first_imgFRISCO, Texas – Sam Houston State’s Tiffany Thompson and Lindsey McLeod are the Southland Conference Softball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland Conference Players of the Week are presented by MidSouthBank.com.Thompson crossed home plate four times in three games for Sam Houston State (26-19, 17-4 SLC) to boost her squad to a perfect 3-0 week against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Friday and Saturday. The junior launched a pair of home runs to accompany two RBIs and a triple in the series. She also notched a 1.400 slugging percentage and a .600 on base average across the trio of games. The award marks the second of the season and second consecutive weekly honor for Thompson.McLeod delivered a stunning week in the circle for the Bearkats, posting a 2-0 record and dealing 24 strikeouts over 12 innings for a .081 opponent batting average. The senior pitcher allowed just three hits in a pair of complete-game shutout victories over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
